This policy explains how CivilsRoute ("we", "us", "the Service") handles information when you use civilsroute.co.uk, and what cookies are set on your device while you do. CivilsRoute does not require an account or sign-up to use — the tool is designed to work without you providing any personal information to us directly.
CivilsRoute does not require registration and does not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information as a condition of using the map tool. Coordinate pins, routes, and measurements you create during a session exist only in your browser, for the purpose of the tool's own functionality (for example, exporting your work to CSV, GPX, or KML) — none of it is transmitted to or stored on our servers.
The Contact form in the map application doesn't submit to a CivilsRoute server either — it composes an email in your own email client, addressed to [email protected], containing whatever you've typed into it. We only see that message once it reaches our inbox, the same as any email you'd send us directly, and use it solely to respond to your enquiry.

Since CivilsRoute doesn't set cookies of its own, there's nothing of ours to disable — but your browser's cookie settings still control what Google AdSense is able to set on this site. Refusing all cookies won't break any CivilsRoute functionality, since the tool doesn't rely on cookies to work. Advertising cookies can be managed independently via the opt-out links in Section 3 above.
Where we hold personal data you've provided directly to us (for example, in an email sent via the Contact form), you have the right under UK data protection law to request access to, correction of, or deletion of that data. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 8 below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
This Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will remove it.
